Goushala is a cow shelter or sanctuary where cows are protected and cared. In Hinduism, the cow is considered as sacred and is treated as a Goddess. The Goushala is an ancient form of cow husbandry that has been practiced in India for centuries. The term “Goushala” comes from the Sanskrit word “gou”, meaning cow, and “shala”, meaning shelter. The Goushala continued to be an important part of Indian culture throughout the centuries. The cows were given special treatment and were seen as symbols of fertility and prosperity.
Advaitha Goushala is dedicated to the nurturing of desi cows. At Goushala we offer a natural and healthy environment to cows. Since our establishment in 2019, we’ve been committed to making a positive impact on society in the world we live in. Our endeavors are fueled by fresh ideas and passion from our dedicated team.
“Gavomey purathavastu Santhu Prushtataha,
Gavomey hridaya santhu gavam madhye vasamyaham“
Advaita Goushala was set up with the aim of preserving, saving all indigenous (desi) breeds of cows, providing shelter and needful life to them in a calm and solace environment.
Advaita Goushala was established under the divine direction of His Holiness “Jagadguru Sri Shankara Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham” AND also being blessed by His Holiness “Jagadguru Sringeri Sarada peetadhipathis” and is running successfully
Above all, there is implicit truth in what the ancient Indian texts Vedas, Sastras, Puranas say ‘If the cow is kept happy, the land is prosperous and the people are happy.’
Through our efforts, we aim to demonstrate the unwavering conviction behind our beliefs, and we invite you to stand with us in our noble mission.

Cow protection is essential for human society and to safeguard Hindu Sanatana Dharma
In addition to their close association with the divine, the docile nature of cows is said to exemplify the Hindu virtue ahimsa, “noninjury”. Cows can also be seen as symbolizing Hinduism itself as every part of a cow has a religious parallel.
The four legs of the cow are seen as symbolizing the four Vedas, and the length of a cow’s legs is associated with the Himalayan Mountains.
The four teats of a cow’s udder correspond to the four Purusharthas, or life goals of Hinduism. Cow’s eyes represent the deities of the sun and moon, and a cow’s horns symbolize the three gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
Brahma is associated with the tip of a cow’s horns, Vishnu is the center of the horns and Shiva is the base of the horns.
The final part of the cow, the shoulders, are associated with ancient Vedic gods. One shoulder represents the fire god Agni and the other stands for the wind god Vayu.
From the ancient Vedas to everyday worship, respecting the humble cow is an essential part of Hindu life.

The Cow is considered the most revered in our Santana Vedic Culture. Cow gives us everything: milk, health, wealth and cereal. For this reason, cows are considered as mothers in Hindu Tradition. In Rig Veda, the cows sometimes symbolize “light” and “rays”. One can attain salvation(Moksha), Papa Vinasanam (Get Rid of Sins) by worshiping and serving the Cow.
It is wonderful if you can visit the Goushala, to experience the bliss and devine environment. Also, you can serve the cows directly or contribute for their wellbeing.
